Been a long time coming, but I finally have my license to carry a concealed handgun. It's a Texas state license, but it's honored by about 30 other states...so it's kinda widely accepted. Now I just have to find a good way of carrying it. Right now, I have a shoulder holster, but that doesn't always do so well in the summertime. Oh well, at least the hard part is over and everything's official. Very Happy

Just out of curiosity, is it harder to get a license for a concealed handgun or a visible one? I would rather know someone's carrying one, but then again seeing it would probably freak me out.

Depends on the state: some have an "open carry" law and some don't. In Arizona, you can wear one openly with no license, and in the state of Texas, you can't "open carry" at all. In Texas, a very extensive background check is done, and you have to have a very clean record to be eligible for a concealed license. So it's not like someone with a tendency towards violence can get one. In fact, a single domestic disturbance charge or Felony on your record anywhere instantly knocks you out of the running.

Thanks. I don't plan on having to use it, but it's nice having it available should the situation demand it.
